Coding Camp 11-13 October 2021 – Automation – Smart Home & City – For 7-11-year-olds

*** Dates of the camp have been updated. ***

So…let’s talk about automation, smart homes, smart cities and IoT. Because this is the future for a sustainable and efficient lifestyle. And this camp is a good opportunity for kids to understand the concepts, get into programming and engineering and let their minds create.

The camp takes place from Monday to Wednesday from 9 30 to 13 30 and additional hours until 16 can be booked.

What are we building and programming?

We are creating a simulation of a smart city with smart homes, self-driving buses, light that turns on when there is movement, sprinkles that start when there is smoke, fans that turn on when it is too hot, garbage that is collected only when the containers are full and many other useful concepts from smart homes and smart cities that are already implemented or are going to be implemented in the near future in our homes and cities.

The pictures shown here are not very relevant because this is the first time we are doing such an innovative project… 🙂

Technically, how are we doing this?

We are using microcontrollers as the brain of our project and we are connecting them with sensors, motors and other components to make everything work. And we are programming them in a simple block-programming language or in JavaScript, depending on children’s preference and experience.

Where exactly are we implementing this?

We are creating a miniature city from recycled materials and then we are attaching our devices on the buildings and streets in the city.

What languages do we speak?

English & German

How long does it last?

The camp takes place from Monday to Wednesday from 9 30 to 13 30 and additional hours until 16 can be booked.

Do children need to have a previous experience in programming?

This will be an engaging experience for kids, no matter their current experience in programming. They can be total beginners or already experimented, each of them will find something challenging in the schedule.

What is the schedule?

  1. Programming and engineering in the morning 9:30 – 12:30
  2. Lunch break 12:30 – 13:30
  3. Designing and building the city from recycled materials in the afternoon 13:30 – 16. If the weather is fine, we can also go to the lake to fly drones. 🙂

Lunch and healthy snacks and drinks are included.

The camp takes place with minimum 6 and maximum 10 children.
