Introduction to Software Business Analysis

This course aims to create a liant for people working in non-software domains to the software area. The classes will help you understand how to describe the requirements for a software product that would automate the processes, create the diagrams, observe the structures and entities that would constitute the new software. 

Software business analysts act as intermediaries who translate the needs of the customers into documentation, diagrams and language unterstood by software engineers.

The course focuses on the practical aspects and after the course the participants will be able to analyze a business case and provide exact documentation including requirements and diagrams for the development of a software that would cover that business case.

Subjects covered in this course are: 

  • Describing software requirements
  • BPMN representation (Business Process Model and Notation)
  • Understanding various types of software methodologies
  • Creating UML (Unified Modeling Language) Diagrams from use case diagrams to class diagrams
  • Exploring best practices and standard frameworks in software business analsys defined by IIBA (International Institute of Business analys) and BABOK (A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge).

The course comes in the context of the surge of automation demand all around the world, as we observe more and more businesses pursue using technology for various previously manual tasks and it is an opportunit for non-technical people to understand and participate in this transformation.

The knowledge provided in this course is useful in jobs like: Software Business Analyst, Software Requirements Engineer, Solution Engineer, Product Manager and others.

The course will be thaught mainly in English but whenever needed, the teacher can explain in German.

The classes take place at Coding a Story on Tödistrasse 48, 8002, Zürich every Monday and Tuesday between 31st of October and 29th of November (10 sessions). If required, participants can also join online, however physical presence would be preferred.
