SUMMARY:Family Cyber Shield
DESCRIPTION:Most cybersecurity education puts children in one room and parents in another. This hands-on session brings them together, turning what is often an anxious topic into a shared adventure. Through games, real-life scenarios and the opportunity to ask any question, participants leave not just with new knowledge — but with a common language for talking about digital safety at home.
This workshop is intentionally designed so that every activity works for a 7-year-old and a parent simultaneously. Because digital safety is not a solo skill, it is a family superpower.
What families will explore together:
Spot the fake — a live, gamified challenge using real local examples of phishing messages, fake prize notifications and suspicious links. Families compete to identify what is real and what is a trap; building the instinct to pause before clicking, at any age.
Online Strangers — gaming chats, direct messages, friend requests from people they have never met. Parents and children work through real scenarios together, building a shared vocabulary for situations that happen every day and are often too difficult to talk about at home.
The internet has no delete button — an age-appropriate exploration of how words and actions online affect real people in real life. Through relatable scenarios and guided discussion, children and parents examine together what online conflict actually looks and feels like at young ages; from being excluded from a group chat to receiving an unkind comment, to witnessing something upsetting in a gaming environment.
Your future self is watching — a simple, visual framework for both generations. Who can see this? Where does it go? Can it ever truly be deleted? Relevant whether you are a child sharing a drawing or a parent posting a family photo.
The Family Cyber Shield Agreement and Q&A — every session closes with families filling in a one-page commitment together: one thing each person will do differently online, and one promise they make to each other. Children take ownership of their digital habits; parents commit to being a safe, judgment-free first point of contact when something feels wrong online.
